And the Winner is...

Hi everyone! As you know, last night was the Academy Awards. And although I fell asleep before I got to see Natalie Portman win Best Actress, I did catch all the red carpet fashion. On a side note, did you know Ryan Seacrest used to be fat?! Kelly Osborne and Guiliana Rancic kept freaking over how much they loved that stars were wearing red and how much it made them pop, but I have to disagree. I think they just blended in with the red carpet! Although I love color, I don't think red was the right choice for this night. Some stars wowed me, and some fell flat. What did you think about some of the night's highlights?

Mila Kunis
Oh my Bass. This dress... TO DIE. I liked how she kept the jewelry minimal and added a brown smoky eye....Ahh too gorgeous. Definitely one of my favorites.

Hailee Steinfeld
Another one of my favorites...this dress is my FAVORITE color! Everything about it is great...the cut, the details, everything. And I love how she didn't wear any jewelry, pulled back her hair, and did natural makeup. Her skin just looks flawless! And the dress is even a custom made Marchesa that she helped design - bonus points!

Cate Blanchett
Still on the fence about this one. I mean, it's gorgeous - verging on art. I love the colors and the structure, and the belt, and I love the way the detail kind of drips down the waist. Especially the pop of neon on the shoulders. But I'm not so sure about that circle thing around the chest. I don't know, it's just a little awkward to me. Like, a boob circle. Awks.

Reese Witherspoon
LOVE the overall look. The dress, the styling...the ponytail. I love the ponytail soo much. In fact, I think I might clip it off her head and keep it as my pet. I shall call it...Flippy. And it shall be mine. And I shall keep it in my drawer with my fake bangs. So they won't be lonely.

Gwyneth Paltrow
I loved the dress, but I think it would've looked so much better without that stupid hip-pin-whatever-that-was. Because then it would be...fluid. And that stupid pin ruins it. The earrings weren't so great either. But the dress was nice.

Scarlett Johansson and Natalie Portman
I figured I could do these together because they left me feeling the same way: meh. I just expected a little more from Natalie Portman...and the dress was pretty, but it was just ok. Then Scarlett, back to the blending in thing, was completely washed out by her awkward lace thing. I must admit I loved the hair and makeup, but the dress was just a downer. Really? This is the Oscars, come on. Although I do love her Tiffanys tassel earrings...

Nicole Kidman
I hate this dress. I really do. What's with those stupid flap things around her waist?! It just makes her look fatter than she really is. I'm sorry, but this was a fashion fail.

Sandra Bullock, Penelope Cruz, and Jennifer Lawrence
These three are together because they all wore red dresses and rocked them. I love Sandra Bullock and I think she looked great. Great cut, great color, great everything. Penelope Cruz looks AMAZING for having just had a baby...my mom has the biggest girl-crush on her.

Those were my most memorable of the night. Whose dress did you love - or hate? From now on I'm posting every night again. Cross my heart and kiss my elbow!

Oh and happy early birthday F! Thanks for always reading my blog, XOXO

Valentines Day!

Did ya miss me?
Yeah, I thought you would.
Who else would you come to for your next stroke of sartorial genius? You were so lonely without me.
Which brings us to our next order of business: unless you are a hermit, you know yesterday was Valentine's Day. So I figured we'd count down the top 5 reasons why I don't have a boyfriend!
Are you ready?

NUMBER 5: I enjoy wearing giant timepieces around my neck. Although a good conversation starter, quite confusing to the opposite sex.
Typical conversation:
Boy: Why are you wearing a clock around your neck?
A: Because I'm cool like that.
Boy: You look like the White Rabbit and Flava Flave had a baby..
A: But a cute baby, right?? Rightttt?!?

NUMBER 4: Feminine pieces + menswear = perfectly balanced combo! Over the weekend, I spent some time at Nordstrom getting a private bowtie-tying lesson. And there's no better topper for a short sparkly cocktail dress than a big white tuxedo jacket. My brother says that Chuck Bass is as much as my fashion icon as Blake Lively. I wouldn't disagree.
Typical conversation:
Boy: Why are you wearing a bowtie?
A: Because I'm cool like that.
Boy: I didn't even know they made girl bowties...
A: They don't. I stole it from you when you were sleeping.
Boy: ...

NUMBER 3: I manage to go into the sexiest store in the mall, Herve Leger, and come out with a pair of trousers. I have a skirt hanging in my closet that is almost down to my ankles, gray, and pleated. Nuf said, I think.*
Typical conversation:
Boy: Why aren't you wearing a mini skirt with a lace tank top?
A: Because I'm cool like that.
Boy: Okayyy....(weirdooo)

*"But A, you always look good!" Consider this, are you a girl? Or, if not, are you gay? I rest my case.

NUMBER 2: You might think every word I say is gold, dear reader, but if we're not on the same wavelength, I end up sounding more like the teachers in Charlie Brown.
Typical conversation:
A: Seriously, that flower printed coat is ridiculous. I could just live in Stella McCartney for the rest of my life. And those navy blue harem pants? TO DIE. I want them in my closet.
Boy: You lost me at flower coat.
A: Because I'm cool like that.

AND NUMBER 1: My valentine is already you! <3

No, just kidding, it's actually this little boy Lenox at a kindergarten I went to volunteer at. "A, how do you spell your name? I want to make you a valentine. I want to make you 100000 valentines! I wanna marry you!"
At least SOMEONE appreciates me!

No, I'm not dead!!

Hey everyone! Sorry I just kind of dropped off the face of the planet for a while, I've just been really busy lately! NO I'M NOT DEAD! But, I do have to finish all of today and tomorrow's homework tonight because I won't be home tomorrow night AND study for a huge test tomorrow. So, as much as I love you, you'll have to do without me for just a LITTLE longer...

Here's some food for thought in my absence:
1. China Glaze Crackle polishes come out this week, so call your local Ulta or Sally Beauty to make sure you get them before they run out.
2. It is officially spring: my nails are pink. PINK! My hands look alien to me sometimes when I look down because I'm so used to my vampy colors. I know in most of the world it's still completely freezing, but I live in Florida. Stupid, hot, humid Florida. So I declare it spring.
3. Figure out 3 by yourself. I gots ta go!
